How credits work

Exactly what each AI action costs, which actions are free, and how to make a balance go further.

Credits are the unit of AI work. Reading and theming are free; generating and rebuilding cost, in proportion to how much compute the action actually takes.

What each action costs#

Per-screen operations are charged for each screen they touch, at 6 credits per screen:

  • Regenerate a screen
  • Generate variations
  • Generate a flow
  • Convert a screen to a mobile version
  • Convert a screen to a desktop version

So converting eight screens to mobile costs 48 credits, not 6.

Starting a session#

A chat session needs at least 4 credits to start — enough to cover a plan plus one full screen, so a session can't begin, plan, and then run dry before producing anything.

The economics, in one line#

Editing is roughly fifteen times cheaper than rewriting, and rewriting is cheaper than regenerating. The single biggest saving available to you is to ask for the specific change instead of asking for the screen again.

Making a balance go further#

  1. Ask for targeted changes. "Make the hero shorter" costs a fraction of "redo this page".
  2. Get the theme right early. Theme changes are free and apply everywhere; recolouring screens one by one is neither.
  3. Take the screen plan seriously. Fixing the plan costs 1 credit. Fixing eight wrong screens costs 24 to 48.
  4. Do device variants last. Convert once, at the end, rather than re-converting after every change.
  5. Use edit mode for copy. Text and image swaps in edit mode are free.
  6. Check your balance before a big flow. A run that stops halfway leaves you with half a flow.

Team credits#

In a team project, AI work is charged to the team's shared pool or to your allocation from it — not to your personal balance. Owners can cap per-member spend. See Teams and seats.

Running out#

You'll get a clear message rather than a silent failure. See I ran out of credits.

Frequently asked

Do credits roll over?
Monthly plan credits reset each billing cycle and do not roll over. Free-plan credits are a one-time grant.
Do I get charged if a generation fails?
Work that produced nothing should not be charged. If you were billed for a failed run, contact support with the project link and we will correct it.
Are reading and theming free?
Yes. Reading screens, reading the theme, reading images and documents, and building or updating a theme all cost zero credits.
